Atom 1.14 has been released, install it on Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 16.10, Elementary OS Loki

The new version of Atom has been released. Please welcome the new Atom 1.14, with some important improvements. This quick tutorial will show you how to install Atom 1.14 on Ubuntu based Linux distribution such as Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 16.10, Elementary OS Loki, Xubuntu, and other derivatives.

The new Atom 1.14 has better performance to handle large files. As mentioned in the official web page, this new version has better memory usage on larger files. Also there are some other improvements have been made. Atom has been used widely by many C#, HTML, PHP programmers.

For Ubuntu users, we can install Atom 1.14 from the WebUpd PPA repository. Follow these steps to get started.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/atom
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install atom

Pretty simple huh? To remove Atom from your system, use this command instead.

sudo apt-get remove atom
