How to connect to Samba shared folder on Xubuntu 14.10 using Gigolo

Gigolo is the default application on Xubuntu system which can be used to connect to a remote computer using various protocols. Gigolo supports the following protocols to connect to a remote computer: SSH, Windows Share, FTP, Obex, WebDAV and more. If you are new to Xubuntu, you may ask yourself how to use Gigolo? This tutorial is going to help you how to use Gigolo to connect to remote computer. I limit this tutorial to use the Windows Share service only.

How to connect to Samba shared folder on Xubuntu 14.10 using Gigolo

Open Gigolo from Applications menu on Xubuntu.

Now click the top left button to start connecting to the server. After you click the button, you will see a popup window come up.

Select Windows Share from the Service Type. Enter the remote server details, which Share folder to connect, the Domain Name and User Name for the remote server. Press Connect when ready. If there is no error and all OK, you should see the remote folder is mounted on Gigolo. Double Click the remote folder to open it on File Manager.

Done. Now you can copy, paste files on the remote computer from Xubuntu.
