How to create storage pool on Rockstor with RAID support

Rockstor is a CentOS based Linux designated for Server use. It has many features and suitable for home or office server. Rockstor comes with a nice and easy to use web administration console which accessible from a web browser. We can manage Rockstor server via this web interface.

On this tutorial, I am going to show you how to create a storage pool on Rockstor. The storage pool on Rockstor supports various RAID level. You may choose RAID 0, 1, 5,6 and RAID 10. Before attempting to create storage pool, first we need to make sure that there is minimum one extra hard disk is connected to the Rockstor server. This disk is different from the one where Rockstor system is installed.

Below is the screenshot of my disks connected to my Rockstor VM. The two disks has no serial number so, I got some warning messages.

Lets get started. To start create a new pool, open Pools from the Storage menu on the web interface.

Click Create Pool and it will open the pool creation menu. Give the new pool a new name, and select the RAID configuration, compression and select which disks to be included in the pool.

Press Submit to start pool creation process.

OK now the new pool is ready. For more information, it is recommended to read the official documentation of Rockstor.
