In my previous tutorial, I have guided you how to install Mariadb Server on Ubuntu 16.04. By default, Mariadb management is limited to localhost only. This means, you won’t be able to access or manage the database server from the computer outsite your network. We need a little trick to enable remote access to Mariadb Server. I am installing Mariadb on Ubuntu 16.04.

The Mariadb/MySQL configuration file is located under /etc/mysql/mysql.conf.d/. We need to edit the file mysqld.cnf under that directory. Now open the file using your favorite editor.

This is the content of the file:

Now find the line that says:

bind-address = 127.0.0.1

Change it to

bind-address = 10.34.0.1

*) 10.34.0.1 is your server IP address

Now save it and restart Mariadb

Done. Now, you can try access your Mariadb from other computer.
