How to install ffmpeg 1.2.6 on Elementary OS Freya

This tutorial is going to show you how to install ffmpeg 1.2.6 on Elementary OS Freya. ffmpeg is a cross platform application that can be used to convert, record and stream audio and video files. ffmpeg packages are widely used by many other applications. Installing ffmpeg on Elementary OS Freya can be done using the PPA repository maintained by Jon Severinsson.

How to install ffmpeg 1.2.6 on Elementary OS Freya

Open Terminal and type the following commands to install ffmpeg on Elementary OS Freya

Done.

ffmpeg freya

Check if ffmpeg is correctly installed by typing this command to check ffmpeg version.
