This tutorial is going to show you how to install latest version of Google Earth on Elementary OS Freya. Currently, Google Earth 7.4.1 is now available for Linux system. Installing Google Earth on Elementary OS Freya is very easy. Google provided the DEB installation file for Google Earth that can be installed on any Debian/Ubuntu based Linux such as Elementary OS Freya.

Steps to install Google Earth on Elementary OS Freya

A. Download DEB package

Navigate to this page and select the DEB package match with your arch.

download google earth deb

You will have a file called something like google-earth-stable_current_amd64.deb.

B. Install DEB package

Now, open Terminal and cd to your download directory

cd /home/fitri/Downloads

Install the DEB package

sudo dpkg -i google-earth-stable_current_amd64.deb

If you are running the 32 bit version, use this command instead

sudo dpkg -i google-earth-stable_current_i386.deb

If you get a dependency error, continue with this command to solve it

sudo apt-get -f install

Wait a moment and Google Earth should be installed.

But, on my own experience, Google Earth keep crashing every time I tried to open it. Hmmm…
