KDE Plasma 5 is the next release of KDE. It still in development but the most recent version of KDE Plasma 5 can be tested and installed on various systems. Here I want to show you how to install KDE Plasma 5 on Xubuntu 14.04. KDE Plasma 5 promises a better user interface with a cleaner Desktop design, smoother graphic performance and many more. Thanks to the neon team which provide KDE Plasma 5 PPA for Ubuntu users. So we can test this desktop on our Ubuntu based Linux easily.
If you want to try the KDE Plasma 5 on your system, you can use the following command to install KDE Plasma 5 on Ubuntu based systems:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:neon/kf5
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install project-neon5-session project-neon5-utils project-neon5-konsole project-neon5-breeze project-neon5-plasma-workspace-wallpapers
This tutorial was tested on my Xubuntu 14.04 system running on VirtualBox.
