How to install MATE Desktop on OpenSUSE 13.1

Currently I am running OpenSUSE 13.1 Gnome edition which means it uses Gnome desktop environment. The flexibility in Linux system allows us to install more than one Desktop environment. We can have Gnome, LXQT, MATE desktop in a single installation. We can switch to another desktop environment from the login page. I’ve shown you how to install LXQT Desktop on OpenSUSE 13.1. Now I want to share How to install MATE Desktop on OpenSUSE 13.1. Its pretty easy to install MATE on OpenSUSE 13.1 since there is an official repository that handle this.

How to install MATE Desktop on OpenSUSE 13.1

Add MATE repository to OpenSUSE 13.1

Now Install MATE

When done,, log out and re log in. Select MATE from the login option and enjoy MATE desktop on OpenSUSE 13.1
