On this tutorial I am going to show you how to install Mozilla Firefox 29.0.1 on Debian 7.5 Wheezy. I am going to show you to do this manually and not using apt-get install command. Debian comes with IceWeasel browser and I am not too comfort with it. I already show you how to install Google Chrome on Debian 7.5 Wheeze and now I will show you how to install Firefox 29.0.1 on Debian 7.5.
First, we need to download Mozilla Firefox package from the internet:
32 bit system
wget https://download-installer.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/firefox/releases/29.0.1/linux-i686/en-US/firefox-29.0.1.tar.bz2
64 bit system
wget https://download-installer.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/firefox/releases/29.0.1/linux-x86_64/en-US/firefox-29.0.1.tar.bz2
For different language, you can browse and download the package here.
Now Extract the file and move to /opt
tar -xjvf firefox-29.0.1.tar.bz2
mv firefox /opt/firefox
ln -sf /opt/firefox/firefox /usr/bin/firefox
Now create a new launcher. Use alacarte menu editor
alacarte
And create a new Item.
