Fedora Tutorial – Today, we will show you how to install Webmin 1.840 on Fedora 26 Server edition. As you know, webmin is a powerful, rich features web administration GUI for server. It helps us manage our server in better and easier way, using web browser.
Install Webmin 1.840 on Fedora 26 Server
Step 1. Update Fedora
It is important to make sure our system is up to date before we attempt to install Webmin.
dnf update
Step 2. Download Webmin RPM package
Use this command to download webmin to /tmp directory
cd /tmp
wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/webadmin/webmin-1.840-1.noarch.rpm
Step 3. Install Webmin
Install webmin with all dependency files with the following command:
dnf install perl perl-Net-SSLeay openssl perl-IO-Tty perl-Encode-Detect
rpm -U webmin-1.840-1.noarch.rpm
Output example:
[root@fedora tmp]# rpm -Uvh webmin-1.840-1.noarch.rpm
warning: webmin-1.840-1.noarch.rpm: Header V3 DSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID 11f63c51: NOKEY
Preparing… ################################# [100%]
Operating system is Fedora Linux
Updating / installing…
1:webmin-1.840-1 ################################# [100%]
Webmin install complete. You can now login to https://fedora.vitruvian.lan:10000/
as root with your root password.
Step 3. Configure Firewall
If we want to access Webmin from other computer, we need to modify the firewall and give access to port 10000. Or, you can stop firewalld if you want to.
systemctl stop firewalld
Now open web browser and type the following address to open Webmin
https://ip-address:10000
