By default, there is no Office applications installed on Elementary OS Freya (Beta 1). I hope there will be at least one Office apps installed on the final release. On this tutorial, I am going to show you how to install Kingsoft Office 9.1.0 Alpha 15 on Elementary OS Freya. I choose Kingsoft other than LibreOffice or OpenOffice because Kingsoft Office has better user interface compared to the other two. When I write this post, the latest version of Kingsoft Office 9.1.0 Alpha 15 is available in DEB format. So its easier to install it on Elementary OS.
How to Install Kingsoft Office 9.1.0 Alpha 15 on Elementary OS Freya
A. Download Kingsoft Office DEB file.
You can click this link and download the latest version from Kingsoft Office website. Or click the following link:
wps-office_9.1.0.4751~a15_i386.deb
Or via Terminal:
wget http://kdl.cc.ksosoft.com/wps-community/download/a15/wps-office_9.1.0.4751~a15_i386.deb
B. Install the package
Open Terminal and install it using command:
sudo dpkg -i wps-office_9.1.0.4751~a15_i386.deb
sudo apt-get -f install
Optionally, you can install additional language and font for Kingsoft Office. Do these commands on Terminal
wget http://kdl.cc.ksosoft.com/wps-community/download/a15/wps-office-fonts_1.0_all.deb
sudo dpkg -i wps-office-fonts_1.0_all.deb
Done. Now enjoy Kingsoft Office 9.1.0 on Elementary OS Freya.
This method works on my Elementary OS Freya Beta 1 64 bit edition. I do not have to install the additional architecture library for 32 bit.
