OBS Studio 0.16.2 is now available, install it on Ubuntu 16.04

The new version of OBS Studio 0.16.2 is now available for Linux. OBS Studio (Open Broadcaster) is a Free and open source software for video recording and live streaming. It supports Linux, Windows and Mac OS. It has all features for us to capture screen video with many other options.

OBS Studio can record entire screen or selected screen if you have multiple screens.

How to install OBS Studio on Ubuntu 16.04 and later

Open Terminal and paste these commands:

Done. Now you can start using OBS Studio on Ubuntu 16.04

    Getting this error:

    Cannot add PPA: ‘u”Error reading https://launchpad.net/api/1.0/~obsproject/+archive/obs-studio: (7, ”)”‘.

    Nope. You forgot, the most recent versions of OBS do not support a variety of graphic cards in Ubuntu yet. Nice try though (given the date of the post). Perhaps you can help them over at github to find why the lack of support for those who had a working version on previous Ubuntu installations; yet no longer have access to OBS without an error of it claiming the GPU is not supported. (GPUs on a laptop are not as easily swapped as on a desktop.)
