This tutorial will guide you how to join an OpenSUSE Leap Desktop to existing Domain Controller. By joining OpenSUSE to Domain Controller/Active Directory, any domain users can login with their domain user credentials. Its a practical way to organize and maintain OpenSUSE Desktop especially on Enterprise scenario.
OpenSUSE Leap 42.1 can connect to Windows Domain Controller or Samba as Domain Controller. On this tutorial, I am using Samba Domain Controller installed on Univention Corporate Server. Please keep in mind that this task should be done by system administrator. General users does not have enough privileges to accomplish this task.
Please make sure you have the following information from the Domain Controller:
- Domain Name
- Admin user
- Admin password
Next, boot up OpenSUSE Leap desktop and get ready to start configuring/connect OpenSUSE to Domain Controller.
Open YaST and go to System | Windows Domain Membership.
Enter the Domain name you want to join. Check the option Use SMB information for Linux Authentication. Create Home Directory on Login should not be use with the SMB authentication. It will install krb5-client package as well.
Click NTP Configuration to configure the NTP (Network Time Protocol). Make sure the NTP is enabled.
Press Next to proceed. OpenSUSE will verify the Domain membership on this step. You will be asked to

When there is no error, your OpenSUSE Leap should be connected to the Domain Controller by now. Reboot OpenSUSE and try to log in using the Domain user to OpenSUSE Leap.

Finally after lifting many rocks I have found it, the issue was the SDDM theme (Logon Screen theme) applied by default, changed it and voilá
