Debian Tutorial-How to install Kodi (XBMC) on Debian 8.3

This short Debian Tutorial is going to show you how to install XBMC Media Center on Debian Linux. I am using Debian 8.3 on this tutorial.

The Goal:

The main goal of this tutorial to help you installing the most recent version of Kodi (previously named as XBMC).

Steps to install Kodi on Debian Jessie

A. Add the Kodi repository

Open Terminal and add the following line to /etc/apt/sources.list

deb http://http.debian.net/debian jessie-backports main

B. Update repository

su
apt-get update

C. Install Kodi

apt-get install kodi

Output:

Use ‘apt-get autoremove’ to remove them.

libavformat-ffmpeg56 libavresample-ffmpeg2 libavutil-ffmpeg54 libbs2b0

libsdl2-2.0-0 libshine3 libsnappy1 libsodium13 libsoxr0 libssh-gcrypt-4
libswresample-ffmpeg1 libswscale-ffmpeg3 libx265-59 libzmq3
Suggested packages:
libx265-59-dbg
The following packages will be REMOVED:
xbmc-bin
The following NEW packages will be installed:
