How to add EPEL Repository to Fedora 20

This tutorial will show you how to install or add EPEL (Extra Package for Enterprise Linux) Repository on Fedora 20. EPEL Repository is the additional repository that is highly recommended for Red Hat, Fedora and CentOS users. By adding EPEL repository to Fedora system, we can install various packages.

How to add EPEL repository to Fedora 20

First, download the package from this link. Next, you should see a confirmation window opened for you. I am using Fedora 20 KDE on this tutorial. Select Open with Apper Installer to open and install the file immediately.

Alternatively, you can also install the repo file you’ve just downloaded using command:

rpm -ivh epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm

Once finished, check the content of the /etc/yum.repos.d. You should see the epel repo listed there.

ls /etc/yum.repos.d
