How to add new hard disk to FreeNAS 9.2.0

This tutorial will show you how to add and configure a new hard disk to FreeNAS 9.2.0. After the disk is physically attached, we need to configure the disk via FreeNAS web administration page. Here are the steps to add new disk to FreeNAS 9.2.0.

First, make sure the disk is attached to the PC or server or virtual machine. Next open FreeNAS web console. On the web console click Storage to open the Storage menu. Then click ZFS Volume Manager.

The popup window will appear. Here you have to type the volume name for the new disk. For example disk1.

Next, click + sign on the available disk section. Make sure your disk is listed here. If not, there must be an error and your disk is not recognized. Then, press Add Volume (Existing data will be cleared). Done.

Now you should see your new disk is listed.
