How to enable EPEL and REMI Repository on CentOS 7.3

EPEL stands for Extra Package for Enterprise Linux and it provides extra packages for Red Hat based Linux such as Fedora, CentOS and all derivatives. EPEL is not enabled by default on CentOS 7.3 installation. So we need to enable or install it manually. This tutorial will show you how to enable EPEL and REMI repository on CentOS 7.3 server.

Enable EPEL Repository on CentOS 7.3

Use this command to download and install EPEL

rpm -Uvh https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/epel-release-latest-7.noarch.rpm

Example:

[root@localhost ~]# rpm -Uvh https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/epel-release-latest-7.noarch.rpm
Retrieving https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/epel-release-latest-7.noarch.rpm
warning: /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.z9TJgR: Header V3 RSA/SHA256 Signature, key ID 352c64e5: NOKEY
Preparing...                          ################################# [100%]
Updating / installing...
   1:epel-release-7-9                 ################################# [100%]

Enable REMI Repository on CentOS 7.3

rpm -Uvh http://repo1.ash.innoscale.net/remi/enterprise/remi-release-7.rpm

Example

[root@localhost ~]# rpm -Uvh http://repo1.ash.innoscale.net/remi/enterprise/remi-release-7.rpm
Retrieving http://repo1.ash.innoscale.net/remi/enterprise/remi-release-7.rpm
warning: /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.m2xMkt: Header V4 DSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID 00f97f56: NOKEY
