How to install Google Chrome 51 on Debian 8.4, Ubuntu 16.04, Linux Lite 3.0, Elementary OS, Linux Mint

The new version of Google Chrome 51.0 is now available for Linux system. This tutorial is going to show you how to install Google Chrome 51.0 on Debian 8.4. You can also follow this tutorial to install Google Chrome on other system such as Ubuntu 16.04, Linux Lite 3.0, Elementary OS, Linux Mint and many other Debian based Linux.

Steps to install Google Chrome on Debian 8.4

A. Install gdebi

Open Terminal and execute this command to install gdebi, the package manager for Debian based Linux

apt-get install gdebi

B. Download Google Chrome DEB package

Click this link to download Google Chrome DEB package or you may also use wget to download it via Terminal


C. Install the package

Use gdebi to install the DEB package you’ve downloaded on the previous step

gdebi google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

Done. Now you should see Google Chrome icon appear on your application list.
