This tutorial is going to show you how to install latest version of Google Earth on Elementary OS Freya. Currently, Google Earth 7.4.1 is now available for Linux system. Installing Google Earth on Elementary OS Freya is very easy. Google provided the DEB installation file for Google Earth that can be installed on any Debian/Ubuntu based Linux such as Elementary OS Freya.
Steps to install Google Earth on Elementary OS Freya
A. Download DEB package
Navigate to this page and select the DEB package match with your arch.
You will have a file called something like google-earth-stable_current_amd64.deb.
B. Install DEB package
Now, open Terminal and cd to your download directory
cd /home/fitri/Downloads
Install the DEB package
sudo dpkg -i google-earth-stable_current_amd64.deb
If you are running the 32 bit version, use this command instead
sudo dpkg -i google-earth-stable_current_i386.deb
If you get a dependency error, continue with this command to solve it
sudo apt-get -f install
Wait a moment and Google Earth should be installed.
But, on my own experience, Google Earth keep crashing every time I tried to open it. Hmmm…
using that command can totally fuck up your computer!
