Hello Xubuntu users, the new Kingsoft Office 9.1.0 for Linux is now available. Here I want to share how to install Kingsoft Office 9.1.0 on Xubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn. This tutorial also can be used on previous Xubuntu 14.04 as well. Current Kingsoft Office 9.1.0 Alpha 14 comes with many features and bug fixes. Compared to OpenOffice or LibreOffice, Kingsoft Office has a better look and pretty much easier. Since there is no PPA repository for Kingsoft Office, we can install this application using DEB file.
How to install Kingsoft Office 9.1.0 on Xubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn
A. Download the Kingsoft Office DEB file
You can download the latest DEB installation file of Kingsoft Office for Ubuntu from this link. Or simply use this command on Terminal (Not sure if still works if the new version is available).
wget http://kdl.cc.ksosoft.com/wps-community/download/a15/wps-office_9.1.0.4751~a15_i386.deb
B. Install the package
Execute this command to install the DEB file
sudo dpkg -i wps-office_9.1.0.4751~a15_i386.deb
Done. Now Kingsoft Office should be listed on the Application menu on Xubuntu 14.10. Enjoy
