How to install PHPMyadmin 4.2.3 on Xubuntu 14.04

This tutorial will show you How to install PHPMyadmin 4.2.3 on Xubuntu 14.04. PHPMyadmin is a web based application to manage and administering your MySQL database on a Linux machine. There is a special PPA for PHPMyadmin for Ubuntu system so we can easily install and upgrade PHPMyadmin.

How to install PHPMyadmin 4.2.3 on Xubuntu 14.04

A. Install dependency files

sudo apt-get install apache2 php5 mysql-server

B. Add the PHPMyadmin PPA

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tuxpoldo/phpmyadmin
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin

You will be asked to enter MySQL root password during installation

C. Configure the web server

sudo sh -c 'echo "Include /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf" >> /etc/apache2/apache2.conf'
sudo service apache2 restart

When done, open web browser and type http://localhost/phpmyadmin
