How to play MP3, DVD Movie on Debian 7 Wheezy

If you are trying to play MP3 music or play DVD movie on Ubuntu, you must install non-free multimedia codec first. Same as Ubuntu, Debian 7 does not come with this non-free multimedia codecs. But in Ubuntu, you can simply install ubuntu-restricted-extras to cover this needs. Now, how to install these non-free multimedia codecs on Debian 7 Wheezy?

In Debian, you can install non-free multimedia codecs using the following command:

sudo apt-get install libav-tools libavcodec-extra-53 libavdevice-extra-53 libavfilter-extra-2 libavformat-extra-53 libavutil-extra-51 libpostproc-extra-52 libswscale-extra-2 flashplugin-nonfree ttf-mscorefonts-installer icedtea-plugin

The command above will install mp3 and dvd codecs which let you to play your favorite MP3 and DVD movies. Also, it will install flash plugin and icedtea plugin. I hope this simple tutorial helpful for Debian users.
