I am a fan of VLC Media Player because of two main reasons. Its simplicity and supports many audio and video formats are the main reason why I am not looking for any other VLC alternatives. Until I try to install PotPlayer 1.6. Its a weird name to me but that doesn’t matter at all. PotPlayer has a simple user interface and also has a lot of features I need. So now, VLC has a comparable alternatives. PotPlayer 1.6 is the current version and its available for free. When you install PotPlayer, there are no hidden ads or any other annoying things injected by the developer.
There are not many buttons and text in PotPlayer main window. Preferences and other settings are hidden on the settings page at the bottom right button or near the text Potplayer at the top left. The main window transparency can be adjusted using a slider on the top right close to minimize button.
PotPlayer 1.6 comes with audio, video, subtitle and playback preferences. It also include equalizer and some presets we can choose. You can also adjust the video brightness, contrast, and saturation as well.
To reveal the true features of PotPlayer, you must click on the little tiny button on the top left. You will see the main menu appear with lots of items.
