The new version of CentOS 7.0 has been release few days ago. Now I want to install this new distribution on my Virtualbox and share with you the step by step installation wizard. The new CentOS 7.0 comes with many interesting features such as
- Kernel updated to 3.10.0
- Support for Linux Containers
- Open VMware Tools and 3D graphics drivers out of the box
- OpenJDK-7 as default JDK
- In Place Upgrade from 6.5 to 7.0 (as already mentioned)
- LVM-snapshots with ext4 and XFS
- Switch to systemd, firewalld and GRUB2
- XFS as default file system
- iSCSI and FCoE in kernel space
- Support for PTPv2
- Support for 40G Ethernet Cards
- Supports installations in UEFI Secure Boot mode on compatible hardware
Step by step installing CentOS 7.0
A. Boot the ISO
Boot your computer or Virtual machine with CentOS 7.0 ISO. On the CentOS 7.0 desktop, double click the icon “Install to hard drive”
B. Select the installation language
C. Installation settings
On this page, you can configure the installation destination. Select which hard drive for CentOS will be installed.
Select your disk and you can also add another disk or modify the partitioning scenario.
Please be careful when touching this partitioning steps. If you made mistake, your data could be wiped forever.
D. Begin the installation
When all set. Press Begin Installation to start the install process. Here you can specify the root password and new user creation

The installation will take a while. Please be patient. Press Quit when the installation completed. Reboot your computer to the new installed CentOS 7.0. Remove the ISO or CD from your computer.
Upon reboot we still need to accept the license agreement
Press finish configuration to complete the installation. Now log in to CentOS 7.0
Now CentOS 7.0 is up and running.
