Quantum GIS (QGIS) is a free and open source GIS (Geographical Information System) application which can be used to produce maps, geostatistical analysis, georeference images and many more. This tutorial is going to show you how to install QGIS on Fedora 23. QGIS is available for Windows, Linux and Mac. It supports almost any Linux distribution including Fedora.
Steps to install Quantum GIS on Fedora 23
To install Quantum GIS on Fedora 23, use the following command
su
dnf install qgis qgis-python qgis-grass
If you look at the official page of Quantum GIS, the full installation command for previous version of Fedora as follow:
yum install qgis qgis-python qgis-grass qgis-mapserver
But the qgis-mapserver is not available on Fedora 23. I haven’t search how to solve this problem but I don’t install the mapserver package on my Fedora 23.
I have problem. When I’m trying to run qgis using terminal I get this error
qgis: error while loading shared libraries: libgfortran.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
