This tutorial is going to show you how to install the latest version of nVidia Driver 337.19 on Ubuntu 14.04. This nVidia driver 337.19 is still in Beta version so do it at your own risk. Installing nVidia Driver 337.19 on Ubuntu 14.04 is pretty easy.
First, download the nVidia Driver 337.19 binary package for Linux
For 32 bit system
wget us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/337.19/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-337.19.run
For 64 bit
wget us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/337.19/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-337.19.run
Now make the installer executable
sudo chmod +x NVIDIA-Linux-*-337.19.run
Next we need to kill or stop the display manager. Do the one of following command depends on which display manager you are running.
For KDE
sudo /etc/init.d/kdm stop
For Gnome
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
Now install the package using command
sudo ./NVIDIA-Linux-*-337.19.run
Follow on screen installation wizard until finished.
